Announcements  And News

Women served the CSA in every roll possible, spies, cooks, nurses, all the way through serving artillary batteries plus being good company for the beligered soldiers.  Just as much thanks should be given these good women as well as the men whom served the CSA.

Belle Boyd

1843 to 1900  Probably the most famous Confederate female spy, known as the "Cleopatra of Secession"

Clara Barton

1821 to 1912  Called the "Angel of the battlefield"  Yes she did provide care for the Union but, she provided just as much needed care for the Confederacy.  Bartons major claim to fame is creating the American Red Cross in 1881.

Rose O'neal

1817 to 1864  Because of her spy work, Jefferson Davis credited her with winning the battle of Manassas.

Varina Jeffersson Davis

1826 to 1906  Provided support for the Confederate soldiers by visiting them while in the hospitals.

Mary Todd Lincoln

1818 to 1882  Yes, Abes Wife!  Mary's Kentucky family strictly supported the Confederacy.  Many Union supporters wanted to try Mary for spying for the Confederate cause.
